Google's Gmail is the most trusted-email client used by people the world over.
Yet we don’t seem to comprehend its true prowess. So here we are to
give you some simple tips and tricks that’ll open a whole new world of
Gmail for you!
The Search Engine
Contrary to popular belief, the search engine does more than searching your mail
for you. Other than doing the usual mundane searching, the Gmail search
is capable of searching elements present in an attachment as well! So
next time you want to hunt for an excel sheet but can’t recollect what
it is saved as, fret not. Just search for the right keyword present in
it and Gmail will dish out the perfect result for you! That’s not all,
you can filter down your search query to a very specific limit by
specifying whom was mail sent to, what the subject was, the content, and
the elements it doesn’t have!
Bifurcation
Cluttering your mailbox with mails from different sources and keeping a
tab on them all can be a pain. Hence, Gmail provides many simple ways
to bifurcate them into embedded folders that’ll help you classify them
as you please. You can create a folder with a specified name and
colour-code it according to your need. Then select the mails needed and
drag and drop them into the folder which will be placed in the left
column housing the inbox. This will help in de-cluttering the mail and
help you in organizing the mailbox easily.
Managing Multiple Accounts
Keeping multiple tabs open and browsing through them all is an
unnecessary task, especially when Gmail gives you the ability to club
all the mailing accounts into one, and handle it from a single base with
ease. You can also import your mails from other accounts on yahoo,
Hotmail, etc! If that wasn’t enough, you can even send a mail through
any account that you please! All you need to do is specify through which
email address it should be done, and Gmail does the rest!
Auto-Forwarding Mails
Sometimes you tend to receive few mails that need to be forwarded to
others, pronto. And thankfully so, Gmail has the fixed for you!
Auto-forwarding is a boon when you have important mails being relayed
back and forth by numerous people. All you need to do is go under
Settings-> Forwarding and POP/IMAP-> Create New Filter, and add
the criteria necessary. For instance, whose mail needs to be forwarded
to whom. You may add a person or a group, as the need persists.
Apps & Extensions
Just like every other Google
initiative, Gmail is equipped with third-party apps and extensions that
can help you in numerous ways. There are tonnes of them, and can make
your life easier in many ways. The best amongst the lot is Boomerang
that allows a mailer to schedule a delivery time for a mail which has
already been composed, set a follow-up routine, and hordes of other
highly useful features!
