Vodafone GPRS settings for Android phones

For normal phones, the GPRS settings are automatically pushed onto the handset as soon as the SIM is inserted in the mobile. You just have to insert the SIM and Internet starts working immediately without any further configurations.
Unfortunately this is not the case for android phones. Internet does not work with the automatically configured setting. The phone has to be manually configured for internet to start working on it. Th automatically configured settings have to be discarded and a new set of settings have to be configured and activated.
Please find below the steps to configure your android phone for internet access on Vodafone networks.

  • Go to the phone settings
  • Select Wireless and networks
  • Go to Mobile networks
  • Go to Access Point Names
  • Go to the menu and select New APN
  • Configure the new APN with the below given settings
  • Name : vodafone
  • APN : portalnmms
  • Proxy : 10.10.1.100
  • Port : 9401
  • Save the settings
  • Make this new APN as the active APN.
Internet should start working as soon as you complete these steps.
